Beyond Repair review – Cenotype

time October 14th by admin

Now, I am a fan of most releases on the Hive catalog, but I got a chance to listen to the new release, Beyond Repair from Prometheus Burning and without being biased, this album is like a 9 out of 10 (nothing’s perfect). This album has it all. If you are into PowerNoize or Rhythmic Industrial, this album will be the release of the year. I wouldn’t quite confine it to that genre alone, as it is more in-depth and intelligent. It definitely showcases a tight Breaks and IDM influence. Some tracks you can even hear a bit of old Skinny Puppy in the amount of layers and obscure sampling that is going on. There are female vocals, but they are unintrusive, well-placed and are an actually an addition, not a subtraction. Technically, the album is well produced. Nice clarity and separation, even in the distortion. Nice overall mastering via Metarc, as to be expected. If you are looking for an album that can bring you back to the ideas and feelings of why you began to listen to dark electronic music, this may be a nice reminder. DJs will need this in their arsenal, so grab the album early and beat the other fuckers to the punch.
